about

Through focused explorations of chaotic electronic feedback systems, a collection of recordings were made from sounds that resemble water in various states: bubbling, rushing, popping, and slushing. In performance, the prerecorded fragments are used to manipulate found videos of water scapes. The addition of field recordings taken by the Lake Ontario waterside are blended with the feedback material to contrast the purely electronic sounds with those of nature.

Dimitri Georgaras is an Ottawa-born sound artist, composer, and instrument builder. He has recently completed a degree in electrical engineering and electroacoustic music composition, with his passion lying in the intersection of the two. Recent works include both acoustic and electronic feedback, cassette based sound installations, and special processing of acoustic piano.

Recorded live at the Rehearsal Hall of the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, November 28 2019.
