Diana Lawryshyn - piano and electronics

The raw materials for piece are multiple improvisational recordings from Paul Medina on percussion, Connor Rae on alto and baritone saxophone, the Musikki Jazz Ensemble, and Diana Lawryshyn on piano and violin.

Processing the recordings by various means including impulse responses, reverb, and pitch augmentation, the piece depicts the slow approach of winter weather.

Diana Lawryshyn is a 4th year Concurrent Education student at Queen’s University. Her electroacoustic work is often influenced by her traditional music training as a pianist and acoustic composer. Diana strives to tell stories and to illustrate emotions through her work in the Sonic Arts Studio.

Recorded live at the Rehearsal Hall of the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, November 28 2019.
